Who knew that people really do judge a book by its cover? I have changed the cover of my book Parallel to this
Since doing it two days ago,downloads have increased by 500% and it is in the top 100 (#79 last I checked) in contemporary fantasy on Amazon.
Smashwords still plods along at a couple of copies a day, but it will be a week or so before it sends the changes to its distributors. It will be interesting to see how it goes when it ends up on Itunes, Barnes and Noble, Diesel, and Sony Kobo, and the rest of them.
I never really liked the original cover. It was painted by myself, scanned and then fiddled with on the Gimp, (Go open-source software.) The new cover was a manipulation with the same program of a photo added to the original cover.
Still not completely satisfied, but it’s obviously an improvement if download numbers are anything to go by.
Total downloads is around 900 which for me feels kind of awesome.
